Where will Dak Prescott be in 2021? (Blog #2)

This past week there has been a lot of noise surrounding the Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott. According to sources around the sports world, that the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott are not close on an agreement, and the Cowboys front office as announced that they plan on Franchise Tagging the Superstar Quarterback again. There are only three locations that I can see Dak Prescott landing outside of the Dallas Cowboys and they are the Washington Football Team, Minnesota Vikings, and the San Francisco 49ers.

The Washington Football Team

According to Dak Prescott’s Twitter last week has followed the Washington Football Teams twitter page, after the Dallas Cowboys released a season highlight video and did not have one high of the quarterback and within the same couple days the Dallas Cowboys as rumored that they are not close on a deal and will give the quarterback the franchise tag. The Football Team is a team that is a quarterback away from being an elite team They have the best Defensive Line in the NFL and will not have the salary cap needed to keep all the players in the group. This leave the team is a position to make a move fast and Dak could be that move they need to take the next step.

The Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are a weird one to bring up when it comes to Dak, but they are a team that feels like they are a couple pieces away to develop a long term run in their division and they do not think that Kirk Cousins is the guy long term. With, the Vikings may be looking to shop Kirk out of Minnesota and a great landing spot for him would be the San Francisco 49ers. The head coach Kyle Shanahan coaches Kirk when they were in Washington together several years ago, and this is a reunion that help the 49ers get their offense back to the Super Bowl caliber they were two years ago.

The San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are a team that is looking for a quarterback that can stay healthy and will develop a strong fan base. There is not a better Quarterback better at it than Dak Prescott. Kyle Shanahan’s offense runs a lot of Play Action Pass and runs a lot. When Dak plays out off the Play Action his numbers are the highest in the NFL. The 49ers have a very tough division and have an elite defense as a whole and every year that they go with an average quarterback or an injured quarterback it is a year of their window being wasted.

  1. I think all of the teams you listed for Dak would be great fit for him. With the Washington Football team making it to the playoffs under Ron Rivera in his first season coaching for them, I could see him doing a great job of further developing Dak. With the team just signing Taylor Heinicke to a two year deal, its hard to say whether or not Dak would sign with them. I really wonder what would have happened to the Cowboys this season if Dak did not suffer his injury.

  2. Great post! I thought it was crazy and disrespectful to Dak that the Cowboys didn’t include him in their new hype video, but I guess it just means at this point they aren’t planning to have him as part of the team next year. I think that all 3 teams you listed would be a great fit for him. I think he could do well with all of the 49ers, WFT, and Vikings, but for me I think that his best move would be to stay in Dallas because I think they have an offense that he works really well in and I’m not sure how successful he will be elsewhere.

  3. It would be change the entire division if Dak went to the WFT. It is usually so rare for an interdivision trade/signing for big name players. Donovan McNabb did play for the Redskins after 11 years with the Eagles, granted it was at the end of his career. Dak would be a fantastic fit for an offense with Terry McLaurin and Antonio Gibson.
